As chief strategy officer, Bob Hughes leads Kronos global efforts to develop, communicate, execute, and sustain the company’s strategic plan, including pursuit of mergers and acquisitions, strategic investments, and driving Kronos’ global expansion initiatives. Hughes also oversees various acquired business units within Kronos, including AD OPT, AutoTime, the Clinical Solutions Group, Empower Software Solutions, TeleStaff Solutions Group, Stromberg, and TimeLink.
Hughes joined Kronos from Blackbaud, a global software and services provider, where as vice president of corporate development he built and led a successful mergers and acquisitions team. Over several years, his team identified and integrated numerous acquisitions which spanned the U.S. and international markets, helping to double Blackbaud’s size.
Prior to Blackbaud, Hughes was an investment banker in the global mergers and acquisitions group at Merrill Lynch & Co. in New York, where he advised companies on strategic alternatives such as mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and leveraged buy-outs.
Hughes holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the United States Naval Academy, and served as a submarine officer in the U.S. Navy. He also earned a master’s degree in business administration from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
