As vice president of global finance, John Butler is responsible for global financial planning, business analytics, product and services pricing, and international finance operations.
Since joining Kronos in 1996, Butler has served in a variety of financial roles covering financial modeling and budgeting, financial reporting, revenue accounting, compensation planning, and providing guidance to a broad range of company divisions in the U.S. and internationally. In 2007, Butler played a key role in negotiating the sale of Kronos to private-equity firm Hellman & Friedman for $1.8 billion, and subsequently in executing various modifications to the company’s capital structure. During his tenure with Kronos, he has been involved in more than 50 of the company’s acquisitions, spanning companies, products, and resellers of Kronos products.
Prior to Kronos, Butler was a certified public accountant (CPA) at Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers), and worked in a variety of finance and accounting roles at small and large technology companies.
Butler earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Massachusetts Lowell and a master’s degree in accounting from Bentley University.
